Winner 2005 David Di Donatello Awards – Best Musician

Gianca (Paolo Briguglia), a young saxophonist, meets Nick (Claudio Santamaria) on a train heading for the Umbria Jazz festival.  Though Gianca’s years of training in a musical household contrast sharply with Nick’s untutored talent, the two form a strong friendship on their return to Bologna, with Nick even striking up a relationship with Gianca’s sister.

The two musicians set about forming a quintet, around which revolve several female personalities; friends and girlfriends. But to Gianca’s surprise the group puts the spotlight on Nick's natural talent and he begins to really shine.

This uplifting, semi-autobiographical new drama from Pupi Avati (‘A heart elsewhere’) is a touching tale of the soaring dreams and bitter rivalries of youth and what happens when boyhood bonds are tested
