‘The Miracle’ is the story of Tonio, an introspective twelve-year-old boy, who while riding his bicycle one day gets hit by a car. Emerging from his coma some days later, Tonio happens upon a dying man. The electrocardiogram on the monitor is a flat line. But when Tonio comes near to the man and touches him the man is mysteriously revived, prompting talk of miraculous healing powers. Rather than an exploration of faith, ‘The miracle’ is instead an examination of how inexplicable events play into people’s need to believe in divine intervention. This sympathetic and affecting tale from director Edoardo Winspeare is stunningly shot amongst the brilliant industrial backdrops of coastal Taranto.
