This stirring first film from director Paolo Franchi is a hypnotic and richly compelling journey into the mysterious world of voyeurism. Valeria (Barbora Bobulova) is an attractive but introverted young woman living in Turin, where she works as an interpreter. Her daily life doesn’t include sentimental relationships, just a ritual and unconscious attention to Massimo, a neighbour of hers, in his forties, whom she spies through the windows of her apartment.

When Massimo moves to Rome, Valeria’s existence seems to collapse and following an abrupt impulse, she decides to leave Turin and follow him. But life is never simple. Valeria learns of the existence of Flavia, Massimo’s attractive companion. An accident, caused by Valeria herself, creates an unexpected friendship between the two. For Flavia, she becomes a valuable help in writing her novel on her late husband. For Valeria, Flavia becomes the only tie to her former neighbour. Confronted with a reality she can only be a spectator of, Valeria will struggle to complete the romantic ideal she desires.

This is a haunting tale of loneliness & missed connection in which the longing for intimacy conflicts with our fear of revealing too much about ourselves to one another.
