Cenzo is from Bussi, a typical small town nestled in the mountains. He worked his whole life for one company. Then suddenly after thirty years they shut down his department. What does one do on the outside? Who are you if you don’t have your job anymore? Vince is Cenzo’s twenty-year-old son who wants to leave for the big city, to study and get to know the world. His girlfriend Elena doesn’t want to leave. Elena is fine where she is. She wants to get married, have children, a home, a job.

Paola, Cenzo’s wife is fed up with the dull village life, especially after her husband, apathetic and directionless, refuses to get out of his bed. One day she leaves husband and son to look for a new life and love in the city. Genny is a waitress in Pescara, a pretty seaside town. She wants to see the world. But she can’t go anywhere at all because of her debilitating panic attacks. Anita, her mother, is a cook in the restaurant where they work the seasons.

The film is about the coming together of Cenzo, Vince, Genny, Anita, Paola and Elena, one summer on crowded beaches, with packed bars and discos, customers to be served, loves and arguments, trains caught and missed. They all struggle desperately not to get lost; struggle to free themselves from their self created boundaries; struggle to live outside their comfort zones. An uplifting film about love and commitment.
